A major police operation took place at the Hofgarten of Bonn University on Wednesday night. The investigators are clamping down on drug dealing in Bonn again. With a strong emphasis on drug-related crimes, the police are clamping down on narcotic dealing in the Hofgarten: From 6pm a large number of uniformed officers of a special team of hundreds and also plain clothes investigators searched and checked many people in this focussed operation.

„The mission was extremely successful“, explained police spokesperson Christian Gräßler afterwards. Six men aged between 18 and 35 years were arrested and brought to a police station due to ownership of drug packages in street trading size. The suspects who come from Arab(ian) regions according to Gräßler, will be brought before the district court’s magistrate on Thursday in cooperation with the public prosecutor’s office. A seventh suspect was let go after his personal data was taken. He will also be investigated again.

According to GA information the police were reacting to residents’ complaints who witnessed drug dealing in the Hofgarten area time and again. This wasn't the first time the Hofgarten in Bonn was in the focus of the investigators. Already in April a plain clothes patrol team of the police task force had arrested three men aged 16, 21 and 26 years. The officers saw them dealing with drugs prior to their arrest. During a large police raid in Bonn-Tannenbusch, 23 people were arrested at the start of May, and several ten thousand Euro were secured.
