Sport in the Park in Bonn Join in and get fit for free!

Bonn · The Sport in the Park 2017 campaign offers fitness sessions for all at six locations throughout Bonn.

Sport in the Park 2017 kicked off with an event in the Marktplatz on Saturday giving Bonners a taste of the free fitness sessions on offer to all until 8 September at six different locations. “It’s the best opportunity to try out everything possible and discover the type of sport you enjoy most,” said Lord Mayor Ashok Sridharan, who likes running, swimming and skiing. The Bonn city sports association (SSB), the city sport and swimming pool department, Barmer and SWB Energy and Water presented the programme, which includes general fitness, Zumba, Lishi, step aerobics, Kung Fu and Tai Chi.

The head of the SSB, Michael Scharf, said: “Sport in the Park is a wonderful campaign to introduce people to sport.” SWB Energy and Water is again supporting the series of events. The events help to get people moving and therefore to stay healthy said SWB marketing director Jürgen Winterwerp.

On Monday, Sport in the Park started on workdays from 6.30-7.30pm in the Hofgarten, in Beuel at the corner of Rheinaustraße and Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-Straße and in the Kurpark in Bad Godesberg. It starts in the Rochus Platz in Duisdorf on Wednesday, 3 May. Everyone can take part, from children to senior citizens. The Hardtberg swimming pool and the Römer swimming pool are taking part this year and Aquafit, Aquajogging and yoga will be offered on Thursdays and/or Fridays from 10-11am. You pay to enter the pools, but the classes are free.

Sport in the Park will take place in all weathers, except thunder storms or heavy rain and the organisers are looking forward to many people participating.
