United Nations Join in UN Day celebrations

Bonn · United Nations Day will be celebrated next weekend in Bonn city center and a talk on sustainable goals is planned as well. It’s a good chance to learn about what the UN is doing here in Bonn - it’s their 20-year Anniversary in our city on the Rhine.

In June, the United Nations began celebrating it’s 20 years of establishment and growth in Bonn. With around 1,000 UN employees and some 20 UN organizations, the UN has rendered Bonn a powerhouse for global sustainability. ‘Shaping a Sustainable Future’ is the theme that runs throughout all of the Bonn-based organizations and it will be the topic of “Bonn United Nations Talk” on Friday, October 28 at 6 p.m. (Haus der Geschichte, Willy Brandt Allee 14). All are invited and simultaneous translation into German or English respectively will be provided. A reception will follow.

During the “UN Talks” this year, the work of Bonn UN organizations is being presented. One can meet the UN representatives and see what contributions they are making in the field of ‘Sustainable Development Goals” (SDGs), and join in the discussion.

United Nations Day will be celebrated in the city center at Marktplatz in front of the Rathaus (Old Town Hall). Festivities take place on Saturday, October 29 from 11:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. Visitors can get lots of interesting information about UN efforts to achieve 17 sustainable development goals across the world. There will also be a stage program with entertainment and activities for the whole family.
