1 Bonn on Ice

„Bonn On Ice“ provides 13,000 square meters of icy surface in the Stadtgarten. Because it is partly covered by a tent roof, ice skating is also possible on a rather rainy day. If you have never been on ice skates, you can even take beginners’ classes, in a group or as private lessons.

2 Ice rink with a Rhine view in the Kameha Grand Bonn

If you used to love the panoramic view over the Rhine and the Bonn Skyline while ice skating, you will be disappointed. The ice rink was closed by the Kameha, but instead two curling rinks were opened today. The view can still be enjoyed from the terrace. The fun isn’t exactly cheap with 10 Euro for 30 minutes. The rinks are supposed to be open until the end of December but an exact closing date has not yet been announced.

3 Icedome in Troisdorf

To be iceskating outside isn’t everybody’s thing. The Icedome might be an alternative, with a concrete roof over your head. It is open daily and offers many ice skating classes.

Opening times: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays 9am - 12noon and 2pm - 4.30pmFamily times: Fridays 2pm - 6pm, Saturdays 2.30pm - 5.30pm and 7pm - 10.30pm

Admission: 5.50 Euro/adult, 4.50 Euro/children until the age of 12, books of tickets available: 5 tickets for 20 Euro, groups of 12 people pay 4 Euro per person, season tickets are 130 Euro.

4 Ice skating with the Cologne pixies on the Heumarkt

With a length of about 110 meters the ice rink at the Heumarkt is one of the largest open air ones between December and January. In the middle of the Pixies Market („Heinzelmännchenmarkt“), the ice rink is available from Monday next (Nov 27) until Sunday, January 7, between 11am and 10pm.

The ice rink in Cologne is one of the largest in the region. Here, ice dancer Yasmina practices with guests every day between 3pm and 4pm on how to move on the ice. It is essential to register for the ice skating classes.

Opening times: November 27 - January 7, daily from 11am until 10pm, December 26: 11am - 9pm, closed on December 24 and 25.

Admission: 5-8.50 Euro, children (5-12 years of age), 4-5.50 Euro, skates rental 5.50 Euro/adults and 4.50 Euro/children

5 Ice skating on the Hochbahn in the Lentpark

What an unusual perspective: the 260 meters long and eight meter wide ice rink leads through the ice hall and the indoor swimming pool. Most Saturdays, a DJ and disco lights make for a rocking atmosphere.

6 Ice skating at the Playa in Cologne

The name doesn’t suggest ice skating, but in Cologne everything’s different. During the summer, this is a beach volley area, and in winter time, the ice skaters can go `round and `round. The ice rink is only a stone’s throw away from the Rhein-Energie stadium, but only opens on the weekends, until February.

7 Ice skating in the Westerwald Arena

This is not an open air rink but it sometimes has a cool light-show. It is located near the Vorteilscenter Asbach. There are also ice skating classes available.

Opening times: Thursdays and Fridays 3pm - 7pm, Saturdays, Sunday and national holidays 12noon - 7pm (with the exception of the school holidays in Rhineland Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia)

Admission: on short days 4.50 Euro, long days 5.50 Euro, skates rental 4.50 Euro.
