Case of Nikas P. Charges filed against Walid S. and Roman W.

Bad Godesberg · Bonn prosecutors have filed charges against Walid S. and his accused accomplice Roman W. in the fatal beating death of Niklas P.

Prosecutors are now convinced of who is responsible for the fatal beating of 17-year-old Niklas P. on May 7 in Bad Godesberg. 21-year-old Walid S. has been charged with bodily assault with fatal consequences, and taking part in an altercation which resulted in the death of a human being. According to District Court spokesperson Bastian Sczech, he is also accused of another act of violence committed in the preceding week.

General Anzeiger has information that on April 30, Walid S. was let go by police after he had come to their attention for other incidences of violence. This includes beating up a youth at 3 a.m. at the train station. He was beaten so hard with a bottle that he not only suffered cuts but also a concussion.

Walid S. was believed to have support from two accomplices, and one of them, Roman W. is also being charged. The 21-year-old Roman W. was initially taken into custody, let go again and then brought back to jail on September 9 after trying to intimidate a witness by attacking him brutally. Roman W. is also being charged with dangerous assault, assault and taking part in an altercation which resulted in the death of a human being.

Because Walid S. was not yet 21 at the time the crime took place, he will face charges in Juvenile Court. Prosecutors have a list of 54 witnesses and numerous pieces of evidence. A date for the trial has not yet been set. (Orig. text: Rita Klein)
