Stores open on Sunday Bonn Fest gets started Friday evening

BONN · With fantastic autumn weather, Bonn Fest is expected to attract even more than the 350,000 visitors who attended last year. It opens Friday evening and will run through Sunday, when stores in the city are open to shoppers.

The city center of Bonn will become one big event area on the weekend. Visitors will be sure to find plenty of action around Münsterplatz, Remigiusplatz, Markt, Friedensplatz, Bottlerplatz and Poststraße. It is the 21st annual Bonn Festival, and this year, Friedrichstraße will be included for the first time. Last year, more than 350,000 visitors from Bonn and the surrounding area came to celebrate the big event. This year, an even bigger crowd is expected, especially because of the beautiful autumn weather.

Organizers have put together a versatile program for the festival. From Friday through Sunday, there will be activities and entertainment on two stages and at the town squares mentioned above. On Sunday, stores in the inner city will be open for shopping from 1pm until 6pm.

Various themes will run throughout the festival: Pleasure and Enjoyment, Mobility, Hotel Industry, Lifestyle, Wellness and Fitness, and Gardens/Backyards. On Münsterplatz, visitors can enjoy the gourmet mile, and at Friedensplatz, it’s the first time that the regional brand Eifel will be present with 15 vendors. The theme for Friedrichstraße is “Wine & Design”, visitors there can see what the wine mile has to offer.

At the Markt (the city square where the Old Town Hall is located), it will be transformed into a kid’s world on Sunday with lots of games and opportunities for fun and participation. In front of the Old Town Hall, there will be activities from Bonn music and dance schools, as well as various fitness and health providers, giving visitors a chance to join in and try out what they have to offer.

On both of the stages at the Markt and at Münsterplatz, visitors can expect a variety of shows, music and entertainment on all three days of the festival.

The festival opens on Friday at 7:30pm and officially ends with the children’s and youth choir singing Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” on Sunday at 7pm. But the stage program will continue that evening until 10pm.

The entire program can be found at www.bonn-city.de.
