Bornheim-Hersel · In an arson attack, unknown culprits have broken a window of a Mercedes estate car and tried to set the interior of the vehicle on fire. The criminal investigation department (CID) is investigating.

Around 9.45pm, the fire brigade was called to a car in the Marienstraße in Bornheim-Hersel. Unknown culprits had thrown an incendiary device through the side window of the right back door and tried to set the interior of the car on fire. A smouldering fire developed.
„When the first fire engine arrived, the interior of the car was completely filled with smoke“, Gottfried Kreuzberg, officer in charge, said. The exact cause is not known yet. The CID investigates. (Original text: GA Translation: Mareike Graepel)
