Comic exhibition in Stavelot

The vaults of Stavelot Abbey in the province of Liège are home to the historic cars of the nearby Spa-Francorchamps race circuit: well worth a visit! The building also hosts special exhibitions and is currently home to exhibits by Belgian comic book artist Didier Comès (1942-2013). Comès is a master of black and white ink drawing and took his inspiration from the Ardennes. The show "L'encrage ardennais" (Ardennes coloring) features the whole spectrum of work from the artist and author, whose drawings varied from pure realism to total abstract art. It is running until January 5, 2020.

Water Mill Museum in Birgel

What to do with an old water mill from the 13th century? What about a modern museum with a world of discovery! Erwin Spohr had been looking for a storage room for his sanitation business in 1994 - and found this old mill in the Eifel village of Birgel. And then he changed jobs. Now he calls himself Erwin von der Mühle (Mühle meaning mill), letting visitors ground grains and bake their own bread. Guests can also make mustard and oil - or even get married in the historic setting. On offer is also a "mill theatre" where old stories get told.
