BONN · It's a great weekend to take advantage of some free concerts under open skies, get dressed in your favorite colors and party at the Holi Color Festival, cheer on youth at a junior soccer tournament or visit the Bonn Cactus Market!

Summer concert at Villa Hammerschmidt

Picnic concert at Villa Hammerschmidt: This majestic villa with gorgeous park-like grounds is the second official home to Germany’s Federal President. On the occasion marking 70 years of Germany’s constitution, the state of NRW is holding a traditional summer concert at the Bonn residence of President Frank Walter Steinmeier. The public is invited to the concert on the grounds of Villa Hammerschmidt. It will be a "picnic atmosphere". Visitors may bring blankets or folding chairs as well as their own picnic dinner and drinks. But food and beverages can be bought on site as well. Organizers ask everyone to refrain from using glass bottles and containers. Admission is free.

GA Summer Garden

GA-Sommergarten (GA- Summer Garden): From the beginning of June to mid-August, GA Summer Garden will present a series of six concerts on the roof of the Bundeskunsthalle (National Art Museum). Salsa, rumba and swing are on the program, as is an homage to the Woodstock Festival. This Sunday the concert features the Amsterdam based Quinteto Camey with front man Alvaro Pinto Lyon, which has Cuban music in its repertoire along with salsa, sure to bring that summer feeling to the roof garden. And the concerts with a rooftop view are a real bargain - admission is free. (Thomas Kölsch)

Holi Colors Festival

Holi Colors Festival: “Color is beautiful” This event is a big colorful party with live music featuring Jan Leyk who has one million fans on Facebook and 250,000 Instagram followers. Other acts include Jaxx & Vega, Hotte, Kevin Weiler, Simon Andrews and Phunktjan the Holi resident DJ. For eats and drinks, there will be Street Food with salads, sandwiches, bowls, frozen yoghurt and colorful decoration with lots of imagination. Must be 16 or over to be admitted. The organizers recommend that contact lens wearers and asthmatics stay away from the color clouds and to keep at the outskirts of the festival. Jazz in the beer garden

The Jazz'is: Music fills the Rheinaue Park Restaurant during this summer series of jazz music concerts. On Sunday afternoons, music lovers can hear some Swing, Latin & Funky beats in the beer garden of the restaurant at the Rheinaue. This Sunday features the New Orleans Jazz Band of Cologne. Admission is free.

GA Goal Fever Junior soccer tournament

GA-Torfieber 2019: This GA-Torfieber (GA Goal Fever) Junior Soccer Tournament features soccer teams from the entire region covered by the General-Anzeiger. More than 80 teams, including the smallest Bambinis, will compete for the cup, with the overall competition beginning on Thursday. All are welcome to come along and cheer on the young talent. Preliminary round matches of the F-Juniors begin on Saturday at 11 am. On Sunday, final rounds of the E- and F-Juniors will start at 10 am; quarter and semifinals from 2 p.m.; finals from 3:40 p.m.; Bambini tournament from 1:45 p.m.

When: Starts at 11 am on Thursday, preliminary rounds to quarter-finals and semi-finals on Saturday and Sunday starting at 10 am.

Romeo and Juliet in dance

Highlights of International Dance: "Romeo + Juliet” in dance featuring 20 dancers from the Austrian Dance Company Linz and the choreography of the highly acclaimed Mei Hong Lin, born in Taiwan, having received an education in classical Chinese dance in her home country, followed by training in Italy and Germany. William Shakespeare's tragedy is certainly one of the most famous and tragic love stories in world literature and it is brought to dance on stage at the Bonn Opera. Music: Serge Weber. Bonn Cactus Market

Bonn Cactus Market: The Cactus Friends Bonn invite the public to an exhibition with lectures at the Botanical Gardens of the University, Main Entrance, Remise at Poppelsdorfer Schloss. On Sunday, there will be an auctioning off of the plants to benefit the Christmas charity "Aktion Weihnachtslicht” run by the General-Anzeiger Bonn (3 p.m.).

Divas - A travesty revue with real guys

Divas: For the finale of their first season in the Spiegelpalast (Tent Palace) in Bonn, the two hosts Knut Vanmarcke and Dirk Vossberg-Vanmarcke present a spectacular travesty spectacle with four dancers and lots of charm. Mobile Labyrinth in the Rheinaue

Open again since May, this giant labyrinth in the Rheinaue is a fun maze to navigate while out and about in the Rheinaue Park. It’s open every day and is a fun activity for everyone young and old - providing at least one of you have some decent navigation skills! It covers around 1.5 kilometers - and spectators can watch the action from a tower. Children and teenagers up to age 17 pay four euros, adults pay 4.50 euros.
