Bonn/Region · Take a little trip to another culture this weekend! There are plenty of events with an international flavor happening right here in the region, as well as ones that celebrate the rich local culture. Enjoy and leave the cold behind!

Drachenburg Castle Lights

On Friday evening at 6pm, lighting artist Wolfgang Flammersfeld will flip the switch and reveal a Drachenburg Castle in dazzling colors. In the park, several fairytale houses will be installed, around three meters high - drawing from the fairytale "The Three Little Pigs". In addition, visitors will be able to stroll through an approximately 60-meter-long "Walk of Light". And inside the castle, the shelf of a large Swedish furniture company unfolds an unexpected visual effect through video projections. It will all be open for visitors starting this Friday. X-Change: With the international Speech Choir Bonn

With the international SprechChor Bonn (Speech Choir Bonn). Thirty-two Bonn residents from 13 nations form the ensemble of the International SprechChor Bonn, founded by the fringe ensemble last year. The members are of different ages, have grown up here or have immigrated from other cities, countries or continents. They fled here or are here for private or professional reasons. X-CHANGE reflects the early paths of political, cultural and economic exchange of European regions of the Middle Ages and the lives of the choir members in the Rhineland in contrast to their different origins. World Beat Party

Bonn cultural initiative Taxi MunDJal MusiX (TMM), which focuses on cultural diversity and sustainability through the arts, invites everyone to two events on the weekend. On Saturday, the "World Beat Party" which is always on the lookout for news sounds, will feature everything from Bollywood tunes to global reggae and dancehall to electro-swing and much more. Brunch on MS Beethoven

On Sunday, there is a second event from Taxi MunDJal MusiX. All are invited to brunch on board the MS Beethoven with The SoundBrunch featuring the Thiago Gois Band. It is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The brunch costs 15 per person, children up to six years eat free of charge. The boat does not leave the dock. Reservations can be made by e-mail until Saturday, 4 p.m.. Just send an e-mail to info@ms-beethoven.de , also for information about where it is docked. The brunch takes place every two weeks until Easter.

Brazilian music and dance

Forró is a music and dance style from the northeast of Brazil, it spread nationwide and then internationally. The music is typically played on three traditional instruments – zabumba, sanfona and triangle – and the partner dance is not only easy to learn, but also leaves a lot of room for individuality and creativity. No matter if you are dancing a slow Xote or a quick Baião, with its flowing movements and catchy rhythms, Forró will win win over those who try it. Start the evening learning the basic steps in a sample course, enjoy the live music of Forró Urbano and then dance till the morning hours to the DJ’s music. Price is 5 euros

BTHVN Week opening concert

Olli Mustonen on piano with the opening concert, playing works including Ludwig van Beethoven’s Five Variations in D Major on the Theme "Rule Britannia", Seven Variations in C Major on the theme "God save the King" and more. Miss Saigon musical

The hugely successful musical production “Miss Saigon” will be playing in at the Cologne Musical Dome from January 22 to March 3. A highly emotional love story that takes place during the Vietnam War, it is well-known for the scene when the last helicopter leaves from the roof of the American Embassy. "Miss Saigon" is one of the most successful musicals ever. Since its premiere in London on September 20, 1989 and its Broadway premiere in April of 1991, the musical has been shown in more than 369 cities in 32 countries and attracted around 36 million viewers. Miss Saigon has been performed in 15 languages and has won 70 awards, including two Laurence Olivier Awards and three Tony Awards. "Toast to Our Differences"

"Toast to Our Differences" from Rudimental, a four-member music collective from the London Hackney district; combining drum, bass and electronic music. To date, the BRIT Award winning band has sold more than 2.6 million singles in the UK alone. In autumn 2015 the UK #1 album "WE THE GENERATION" followed, featuring the worldwide hit "Lay It On Me" featuring Ed Sheeran. The multicultural group Rudimental has always been concerned with building bridges between people, emphasizing commonalities and, most importantly, respecting differences.
