Menschen haben sich den oft unwiderstehlichen Hundeblick eigens herangezüchtet. Anders als Wölfe besitzen Hunde einen Muskel, der es ihnen ermöglicht, die inneren Augenbrauen anzuheben.

DISTRICT AHRWEILER. The official veterinarians of the district of Ahrweiler liberated 136 dogs from a private household on Tuesday for blatant animal welfare violations - 53 of them puppies. Earlier there was a corresponding notification.

The official veterinarians of the Ahrweiler district liberated 136 dogs from a private household on Tuesday for blatant animal welfare violations. Earlier there had been a corresponding tip. This was preceded by an indication of possible animal welfare violations.

During a subsequent on-site inspection, the veterinarians found that a dog breeder and his wife had 136 dogs, 53 of which were puppies, in the house and adjacent stables. For this he had no permission. The animals were imprisoned in wire cages, wooden crates and transport boxes, which were considerably too small, in darkened living rooms from the cellar to under the roof of the house and in stables with little daylight incidence.

The dogs, held individually or in packs, were strongly neglected and partially in a bad state of health. In addition they showed anxious, apathetic or aggressive behavior due to the not species-appropriate accommodation. As a result, the veterinarians on Tuesday, with the support of nine animal protection associations, accommodated the animals in animal shelters in Rhineland-Palatinate, North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse - among other things, eleven animals were accommodated in the Bonn animal shelter.

They are at present in veterinary care. Due to the blatant animal protection offences a general animal keeping prohibition for all animal kinds was given to the married couple. In addition the public prosecutor's office is notified. The married couple must come up with the developed costs. The director of the veterinary office, Bernd Schmitt, thanks expressly the animal protection associations involved. Without their great honorary commitment the animals could not have been helped so fast.

The district administration in Ahrweiler refused information on the inquiry of the general indication, where in the region the cruelty to animals took place, – for data protection reasons.
