Accident on Kölnstraße Tram collides with car

BONN.  · A car and tram were involved in a collision midday on Wednesday. Kölnstraße had to be closed off and some stops on Line 61 couldn’t be reached for an hour.

At around 12:20 on Wednesday, a small car was hit by a tram from Line 61. The accident occurred on Kölnstraße near the Rosental stop where the tram had been traveling in the direction of the Hauptbahnhof (Central train station).

In the car were three persons; the driver and two passengers. The driver was injured and had to be taken to hospital but the two passengers remained uninjured.

Kölnstraße was shut down completely for a short time following the accident. At around 1:40 p.m., the scene of the accident had been cleared and trams and buses which had been affected by the accident were running again.

The stops from Line 61, "Chlodwigplatz", "Rosental" and "Wilhelmsplatz" could not be reached for part of the time. Some of the stops from Lines SB60, 551, 600 and 60; "Chlodwigplatz", "Rosental" and "Stiftsplatz" could also not be reached during the time Kölnstraße was blocked off.
