Street closed Three injured in head on collision in Mehlem
MEHLEM · A serious car crash in Bonn-Mehlem on Wednesday left three people injured. Two autos collided head on and Mainzer Straße had to be closed while police and rescue workers were at the scene of the accident.
On Wednesday evening, there was a serious traffic accident on Mainzer Straße in Mehlem at around 5:30 pm. According to Bonn police, two cars collided head on. Three people were injured in the crash.
A 30-year-old woman was driving her compact car heading north on Mainzer Straße. At the same time, a 49-year-old man was driving a minibus and crashed in to the front of her car. The cause is still unknown. Both drivers were seriously injured in the accident. A 14-year-old boy was also injured. 21 firefighters and 14 police officers were at the scene. Mainzer Straße was completely closed off. At 7 pm, the police and fire departments finished their work at the scene.
According to police, total damages were around 35,000 euros. A traffic police unit in Meckenheim has taken over the investigation.
