Bonn · Whether sirloin or filet, medium or well-done: Bonn and the Rhine-Sieg region both have lots to offer when it comes to steak houses. Here are some places where you can go for a good steak.

Abacco's Steakhouse

In June, Abacco’s opened a third location - in Bonn-Beuel not too far from the Kameha Hotel. The prime beef comes from the Morgan Ranch in Omaha, Nebraska. It is served on a hot stone: The guest can determine how long the meat gets cooked on a 300 - 400 degree hot stone plate.

Also on the menu is an American beef tenderloin and rib eye steak, Spanish Iberico steak and corn-fed chicken breast filet. Served on the side are “Chop’t Salads” where all the ingredients are diced to the same size. Extra wide “House Fries” are included in the price. The sides are charged for only once even if you ask for seconds.

The ASH

This Troisdorf restaurant was inspired by the U.S. of the 1920’s. As a reaction to the stock market crash and prohibition, so-called supper clubs were established, in which food and entertainment was offered, and of course the prohibited alcohol.

ASH, promises American classics with a flair from days gone by. The menu includes sirloin steaks, rump steaks, rib eyes or beef tenderloin from the grill, oven-baked potatoes, fries and sweet potato fries, as well as specials such as burgers, spare-ribs or dry aged cuts.

Maredo

One of a total of 46 Maredo restaurants is located in the heart of Bonn city center. Black Angus and Hereford cattle from Argentina and Uruguay are the meats of choice. T-Bone, rib eye, filet, rump and sirloin are prepared in the traditional way: with a little salt and oil.

Here you have the passion of South America and the claim to a top steak house. A wide selection of side dishes such as corn on the cob or vegetable skewers from the grill complement the meats.

El Tarascon

The Argentinian steakhouse in Poppelsdorf has been run as a family business for nearly 30 years. The meat is served directly from a charcoal grill. Classics such as filet and rump steak are complemented by specialties such as "Asado de Tira" (oxen rib) and "Mar y Tierra" (king prawns combined with beef filet).

Appetizers include escargot in garlic and hearts of palm in cocktail sauce. Based on user reviews in Trip Advisor, El Tarascon takes first place in the restaurant category in Bonn.

Live-cooking is part of the concept here with an open barbecue grill, a separate event-cooking area and a cafe called “Kaffee-Kultur.” The menu boasts Argentinian Black Angus beef, Irish Hereford rib eye and burgers - the kind that “separates the men from the boys.”

Fish lovers can also get their money’s worth thanks to the salmon and swordfish. If one places an order in advance, Wagyu or Kobe beef is also available.

Here you will find seasonal dishes as well as classics which are permanently on the menu. The steaks are cooked on a lava stone grill.

Braddy's Laredo's

Roast beef from the U.S. or rump steak from Argentinian Black Angus are grilled here on a lava stone. The restaurant is named after the Texas city of Laredo on the Rio Grande and it brings a little southern flair to the region. Rib fans can look forward to 400 grams of Texas-style ribs.

Not everyone has this: "Lomo de Res", beef filet sautéed in coffee-rum sauce and "o'Brady's Platter", suckling pork with chili-coriander sauce. And American-style ice tea and lemonade are made here daily.

Alte Schmiede, El Loco, El Posado und Leser-Empfehlungen

Alte Schmiede

The "Alte Schmiede" is located in one of the oldest half-timbered houses in Mehlem. It advertises beef from cattle of the Argentine Pampa: 20,000 square meters of grassland full of fresh grass providing natural feed, which should result in particularly lean and delicate meat. The restaurant is open for lunch with meat from "La Morocha", the best-known Argentine slaughtering and processing company.

El Loco

In the middle of the Bornheim tennis and squash park is the Argentinean steakhouse El Loco. Argentine steaks and lamb are on the menu, but also Spanish cuisine, tapas, fish specialties, and Spanish and Argentinian wines.

For guests who smoke, an extra area is set up. All meals can also be ordered to take away.
