Bonn. On Friday, the German Weather Service issued an official warning of gusts of wind. The first damage in the region has already been reported. Also the weekend remains unpleasant.
On Friday afternoon, the German Weather Service (DWD) issued an official storm warning and announced gusts of wind with speeds between 65 and 85 km/h. Occasionally, heavy gusts of around 90 km/h are said to have occurred.
The warning was valid for the period between 5 and 10 pm. The DWD also pointed out possible dangers: "For example, individual branches could fall. Pay particular attention to falling objects.“ The probability of precipitation on Friday evening was 90 percent.
Tree fell on the garage roof of a residential building
In Niederkassel-Ranzel a family had to alert the fire brigade because of a fallen tree. After a short but violent storm, a tree standing in front of the house snapped and fell on the roof of the garage. According to the local fire brigade, the tree was already rotten and could not withstand the gusts of wind. No one was injured. The firefighters sawed up the fallen tree on site to avoid further damage.
Prospects for the weekend Those who want to visit the Christmas market on the weekend of the second Sunday of Advent should dress warmly and have an umbrella with them.
On Saturday it will remain unpleasant with temperatures of seven to ten degrees and rain. Additionally it will remain stormy in Germany with wind speed of up to 75 km/h. In Bonn the gusts come to top speeds of up to 61 km/h. Also on Sunday the sun will hardly show in the sky over Bonn and the region.
