New CEO for Ford Europe Steven Armstrong to succeed Jim Farley

Ford has a new CEO for its European operations. Successor to Jim Farley, who is currently responsible for the worldwide business of Ford, will be Steven Armstrong (52). Armstrong used to be Farley’s right hand. He became Chief Operating Officer (COO), succeeding Barb Samardzich, in October 2016.

Prior to that he was in charge of the Ford business in South America since January 2014. In his 25-year-long career, Armstrong has worked for Volvo and Jaguar, which used to form the Ford luxury car division together with Range Rover and Landrover, as well as the gear business joint venture Getrag-Ford. He is starting on June 1. Armstrong is also responsible for the Middle East and Africa operations. Last Monday, Ford has started a reorganisation of its management.

Company director Mark Fields got his certificate of discharge and was replaced by Jim Hackett. Now the new company director introduced the members of his team, who are supposed to make Ford more innovative and to speed up decisions. Also, less successful business parts are planned to be whipped into shape. Raj Nair (52), so far responsible for product development, is running the North America operations, Peter Fleet is responsible for Asia. She­rif Ma­rak­by runs the sector of autonomous driving.
