Asphalt damage repaired Runway open again at Cologne /Bonn Airport

BONN/COLOGNE · Aircraft are allowed to land again at Cologne/Bonn Airport. Due to damaged asphalt surface on the large runway, air traffic was heavily restricted for three hours.

The large runway at Cologne/ Bonn Airport is in full operation again. The airport announced that take-offs and landings were made possible again as of 1 pm on Tuesday.

In the three hours previous, no landings were possible and take-offs were only allowed on a limited basis. Ten flights had to be diverted and two arrivals were cancelled. There have been numerous delays in departures and arrivals. In the course of the afternoon, there could be further irregularities in air traffic.

A damaged spot on the large runway of the Cologne /Bonn Airport resulted in restricted operations until it could be repaired. Because the other runway is currently being refurbished, it was that large runway which was being used for all operations.
