NRW Schools Prevention program against radical Islam

Düsseldorf · Schools in NRW want to implement programs to warn young people about the danger of recruiters from the radical Islam scene. A program will be presented on Monday.

The North Rhine Westphalia (NRW) Interior Ministry wants to launch a program for schools to warn children and adolescents about the dangers of recruiters from the radical Islam scene. Islamic terrorists have been able to win over several young people for planned attacks. Both the Interior Ministry and the Education Ministry want to work together to prevent students from being influenced by Salafists who try to get the young people involved in the radical scene.

“Especially children and adolescents are the target for pseudo-religious missionaries. Schools and youth outreach programs must arm themselves against this,” was the message relayed.

This Monday, NRW Interior Minister Ralf Jäger, state Education secretary Ludwig Hecke and domestic intelligence head Burkhard Freier, will present a play, a comic workshop and readings which take on this subject. Social workers and teachers can take advantage of the program for their schools, free of charge. The play is called, “Jihad One-Way”, and one of the readings is “Jihad Calling.” Cartoonist and comic artist, Peter Schaaff will present his workshop as well.
