Since this past Monday, police in Bonn have been increasing controls, targeting bicyclists and also motorists who do not share the road appropriately with bicyclists. With this initiative, police hope to increase safety for those who are out on their bicycles in every day traffic.

According to statistics from the Police Headquarters Bonn, statistics from 2016 show that there were 746 accidents involving bicyclists in that year, five of them resulting in fatalities.
