American settlement No more building in the American settlement

Bad Godesberg · A historical preservation order has been placed on the American settlement in Plittersdorf. No further building can take place on the green areas there.

Residents in the „Amerikanische Siedlung“ (American settlement) in Plittersdorf are relieved that no further building will take place there. Authorities announced yesterday a comprehensive historical preservation order for the entire neighborhood. There had been thoughts about building more apartments on the open pieces of land but this will not be allowed under the new order.

A resolution from the City Council also put forth an initiative to come up with a plan for maintaining the park like areas. They said it wasn’t enough to just preserve the area, but one had to also take care of the grounds properly. A plan for maintenance of the green areas is expected to be released in the first half of this year, and a citizen’s initiative group and Vebowag will be contacted in conjunction with the plan.

Discussion took place about what building changes might be allowed at the international Kindergarten along Kennedyallee. Vebowag, as owner has not been able to come to agreement with Kindergarten directors. Historical preservation authorities will meet with Vebowag in mid-February to discuss the situation.
