Viktoria Bridge in Bonn Nightly closings in mid-December
Bonn · The Viktoria Bridge will be closed for several nights in mid-December. Workers will be using a crane to lift support beams weighing tons.
Construction work on the Viktoriabrücke (Viktoria Bridge) means some closures in the coming weeks. Support beams weighing many tons have to be lifted from the bridge. From Sunday, December 11 until Tuesday, December 14, the bridge will be closed overnight from 9 pm - 6 am. An alternate route will be posted. Tram service will also be affected from December 12 - 14 from 12:40 am - 5:15 am.
The support beams that need to be removed weigh 25 tons and are 41 meters in length. To lift them out, a 500-ton crane is needed. Renewal of the bridge is still in the first phase and the project is running according to schedule.
Because of the nightly closures, Bus line SB 60 which travels to the Cologne/Bonn airport will use the following route during that period until Wednesday, December 15: Bonn central station to Rabinstraße, Am Alten Friedhof, Bornheimer Straße, Hochstadenring to Frankenbad/Kunsthalle and then on to the normal route. The stop at Mozartstraße will not be used during that time; passengers will need to use the Rabinstraße stop instead.
