Cannabis agency to grow more than 10,000 kg of the drug

BONN. The Bonn company „Cannabisagentur“ starts its second attempt to cultivate medical Cannabis in Germany. The harvest shall take place in 2020, with an estimated total quantity of 10,400 kg of Cannabis over four years as reported by the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices. The first attempt since the legalisation in 2017 had failed due to procedural irregularities.

Four guys make KunstRasen in Bonn bounce

BONN. Friday night saw the biggest German HipHop band taking to the stage of the KunstRasen. „Die Fantastischen Vier“ have been successful for almost 30 years and still sell out gigs in an instant. They made the 9500-strong crowd bounce, rap along and celebrate German HipHop on a clever and entertaining level. The gig was the fastest selling and so far the most successful in the KunstRasen series over the last seven years.

Grandson of painter tells museum: „You might as well keep the art works“

BONN. Till Macke, grandson of famous German painter August Macke (1887-1914), has given 12 of his grandfather’s works to the August-Macke-Haus museum in Bonn, stating: „You might as well keep them.“ According to an employee of the museum, the staff is thrilled about this generous gift. Some of the works will be exhibited next year.

Friedrichstraße is amongst the top ten pedestrian zones in Germany

BONN. German GEO magazine has voted Bonn’s Friedrichstraße as one of the top ten pedestrian zones in Germany. The city of Bonn had invested 8 million Euro in the area in 2007, the magazine now praises its excellent mix of retail and gastronomy as well as its line of residential properties. Other cities listed in the top ten include Heidelberg and Bamberg.

New theatre for Bad Godesberg

BAD GODESBERG. Knut Vanmarcke and Dirk Vossberg-Vanmarcke are excited: Their dream of their own theatre is about to come true. The Bad Godesberg Allee 69 will be turned into a new theatre, „Malentes Theater Palast“ is to open on September 20 this year. Actors scheduled to appear in the first plays include Walter Ullrich, Bill Mockridge and Margie Kinsky.

Vintage cars, Petticoats and lots of music at the Rheinbach Classics

RHEINBACH. Book your time travel back to the Sixties: Welsh rock singer Bonnie Tyler entertained the crowds on Saturday, the Rheinbach air is filled with the sound of vintage cars, the dress code includes petticoats and dancing shoes. Today is the third and last day of the Rheinbach Classics. Elvis impersonator „Andy King“ and „The Memphis-Riders“ will make the Pützstraße swing while the „Hickory Cats“ entertain the Himmeroder Wall. The vintage weekend ends at 6pm on Sunday.

Goosebump mood at Cologne Lights

COLOGNE. 4.7 tons of pyrotechnics were launched into the night sky – recreating various painting epochs. In addition half a billion sparklers were lit. The 27-minute-long spectacle was accentuated with music by Stravinsky, Dvorak and Tchaikovsky. Several hundred thousand visitors enjoyed the show, exact numbers were not available yet. Fire at car dealership in Spich: Was it arson?

TROISDORF. The Troisdorf fire brigade had to attend a fire in Spich with 50 officers where a pile of tyres was burning. The police does not exclude arson as a possible cause of the blaze. The site will be investigated by experts on Monday.

Haven for role-play fans this weekend

BONN/BAD GODESBERG. Approximately 2,000 role players are currently gathering in the city hall in Bad Godesberg for the 29th FedCon, enjoying their hobby literally day and night. „Live Action Role Playing“ (LARP), „Pen and Paper“ games, readings by Fantasy authors and much more can be enjoyed there. The convention ends on Sunday at 6pm.
