Church seeks new directions this Easter

BONN. The catholic church in Bonn is being forced to adapt due to the cathedral not being available at the moment due to renovation works, and omitted some of its annual traditions in the hosting churches. Monsignore Wilfried Schumacher said: „We are choosing new directions in this year’s Holy Week, looking ahead, into the future.“ For the first time there was no lent cloth (Fastentuch). „It wouldn’t have been possible to hang it up in the Remigius Church. The catholic parish also omitted the usual decoration of the Holy Grave, which traditionally reminds the community of the peace of Jesus’ grave. Yet, the churches do see quite a few new faces this year as well as the regular participants. The first Easter Sunday mass was scheduled for 5am - and Schumacher expected up to 350 parishioners. As usual during Easter night, some adults were christened. The renovation works at the cathedral are supposed to continue until 2020, and they are calculated to cost up to 20.2 million Euro. International thriller series filmed in former embassy in Bonn

BAD GODESBERG. The former Indonesian embassy has been turned into the fictional Syrian embassy, and is currently the location for a spy thriller of epic proportions: Network Movie and Anagram on behalf of the ZDF and the Swedish channel SVT are filming scenes for the mini series „West of Liberty“ on location in Bad Godesberg. The story which is about a former Stasi spy and double agent, who is reactivated by a CIA colleague, is eerily realistic, in regard to the current whistleblowers and fake news. „It seems as if fiction is turning into reality sometimes“, said producer Bettina Wente and her Swedish colleague Gunnar Carlsson. The team will also film in Berlin, Cologne, Marocco and Sweden.
