Pickpockets detained. Police took two women into custody on Monday afternoon for stealing from the purse of a customer at a clothing store in Bonn city center. Employees noticed the women reaching into the purse of a 35-year-old customer, and they detained the suspects in their shop after alerting police. The zipper of the purse had been opened and money taken. Police took the two women, ages 24 and 35 into custody. They have no permanent address. Criminal police are investigating whether they are responsible for any other thefts.

Integration Prize. The Integration Council of the City of Bonn will award an integration prize again this year to persons or groups who have demonstrated an innovative or extraordinary effort towards integration. This year, the prize is 1,600 euro and can be awarded to a maximum of three winners. Written nominations or entries will be accepted until April 15. Garbage overflow. You had a big party and you can’t fit all the garbage in your bin? Now you can buy official garbage sacks that will be taken away if you leave them out during the “gray” or regular garbage collection day. They are gray bags made from recycling materials and fit 70 liters of garbage. The bags cost 5.93 euros and vendors can be found at www.bonnorange.de/verkaufstellen or by calling (0228)5552720.
