Round up June 25/26 News briefs

Bonn/region · Vodaphone will open a new store, thieves were caught in the act and Rüngsdorf will keep normal opening hours on Sunday after all.

Vodaphone will move in to the Münsterhaus next to Commerzbank in Bonn city center. Renovations to the building are expected to be completed by the end of August, and then Vodaphone will begin to outfit its store. The business will take up three floors of the building and about 1,500 square meters. A small part of it will be rented out. Vodaphone expects to open its doors for business in October.

Two daytime break-ins took place on Thursday in Bonn inner city. Between 10:15 a.m. and noon, an apartment door was broken open in an apartment building on Friedrichstraße and rooms were ransacked. An apartment on Vivatsgasse was broken into between 11:45 a.m. and 12:40 p.m. Investigations are still taking place and contents stolen are being determined. Anyone who has information is asked to contact police at (0228) 150.

Three thieves were caught in the act while trying to break into a car in Rüngsdorf on Friday morning. Two observant witnesses noticed the men trying to get into a car parked on the street, Im Meisengarten. They immediately called the police emergency number 110 and several patrols responded to the call. Police were able to detain the suspects in the area. They were ages 19, 37, and 38-years-old and apparently had been trying to take out built-in equipment from the car. They were to appear before a judge on Friday.

Rüngsdorf swimming pool will keep it’s regular opening hours on Sunday after all. It had been announced that the pool would be closed early due to staffing problems with workers on sick leave, but enough help has now been found. If the weather cooperates, it will be open from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m.
