Bonn Open Feis Move over, Michael Flately…

Bonn · The Greenwood School of Irish Dancing is holding the Bonn Open Feis, the championships for Irish Dance, today. The performances start at 9am and are expected to run through until 6pm.

Since shows like Riverdance and Lord of the Dance made Irish Dancing popular outside the Emerald Isle, children and adults all over the world learn how to dance like Michael Flately. Today, the Greenwood School of Irish Dancing is holding the Bonn Open Feis, the championships for Irish Dance.

The performances start at 9am and are expected to run through until 6pm. More than 185 participants from Germany and the Netherlands are lined up to dance today. Dancers from all age groups are performing in different categories - the youngest are just five years old, the oldest over 50. The different disciplines include soft and hard shoe solo dancing, group dances with two to eight dancers and show dancing. During the Bonn championship it is possible to qualify for the German Championships in Moers and the European and World Championships in Maastricht next year.

The Greenwood School of Irish Dancing has produced several champion titles, including a reigning German and Irish Champion. In April, the Greenwood Team even won the world champion title. The event kicks off at 9am today in the Jupp-Gassen-Halle, Kastellstraße 31, running until approximately 6pm today.

Admission: 7 Euro (adults), 4 Euro (children under 14), free entry (children under six).
