Commuters face traffic jams Motorway junction closed completely for the weekend

COLOGNE · Due to the ailing Leverkusen bridge the A1 is completely closed around the motorway junction Cologne-North. If you need to use the connection roundabout South towards Cologne you also need to expect delays.

It’s going to be a busy weekend on the motorways around the metropolitan area of Cologne: The A1 is closed completely in the junction Cologne-North in both directions, due to the ailing Leverkusen bridge. Important connections can thus not be used in the junction area. The long distance traffic should avoid the area, detours lead via the A3 and the A4. Motorists coming from the A1, aiming to access the A57 to Cologne, need to be diverted. The Dortmund intake on the A1 is not accessible from the A57.

And coming from Koblenz on the A57 the A1 is not accessible either. Bonner Straße blocked Due to the construction of the rails for North-South tram, which will connect the south of Cologne with the city centre, 300 trees need to be felled along the Bonner Straße in Marienburg and Bayenthal.
