Pedestrian seriously injured in an accident in Bonn Man was hit by car when crossing a red light

Bonn · A man was seriously injured in Bonn’s city centre on Friday night when he was hit by a BMW when crossing a red light.

The accident happened in front of the Stadthaus in Bonn on Friday night around 9.45pm. A pedestrian was seriously injured. According to the police his injuries are described as life threatening.

As eye witnesses reported, he tried to cross the road despite a red light, from the side of the Stadthaus towards the city centre. On the left lane he was hit by a BMW, in which several passengers were travelling, and which came from the direction of the Bertha-von-Suttner-Platz.

Due to the impact the pedestrian was hurled into the windscreen of the car and his body broke through it.

The emergency services did not make any statement yet in regard to the age of the injured man.

The fire brigade also reported that two passengers in the BMW were slightly injured. The fire brigade in an initial statement praised the fast reaction of the witnesses, who applied first-aid to the seriously injured man until the emergency services arrived.
