Accident in Niederbachem Lorry skids into house avoiding oncoming vehicle
Niederbachem · A lorry slid down a steep slope in icy conditions and crashed into a house in Niederbachem on Monday morning causing structural damage.
According to the first information from police, the lorry skidded on Bruchbachstraße on Monday morning. The vehicle slid between 150 and 200 metres down a 15 percent slope and crashed into the wall of a house.
The crash caused a three metre long crack in the wall of the house. No-one was hurt in the accident.
The lorry was on its way to a kindergarten in Niederbachem. The driver said he had to avoid an oncoming vehicle and this caused him to skid on Bruchbachstraße.
The police said the driver reacted brilliantly in trying to keep to the road. He also made exactly the right decision to use the house wall as a “natural” buffer.
The house wall needs to be propped up from the inside before the lorry can be removed. The collision caused more than 10,000 euros of damage.
