Rüngsdorf outdoor pool Lifeguard detains thief

Bonn · Two young men alerted the lifeguard to a theft at Rüngsdorf outdoor swimming pool on Monday. The city says theft is not a big problem at the pools but valuables should be locked up or left at home.

Bonn police report that two alert young men were responsible for preventing a purse theft at the Rüngsdorf outdoor swimming pool on Monday afternoon. At around 5 pm, the two men noticed a 24-year-old snatch the purse of a guest who was in the pool at the time. He took the stolen item and hid it. The witnesses then informed the lifeguard, who detained the suspect until police arrived.

An examination determined that the 24-year-old was under the influence of drugs and alcohol. He was brought to police headquarters, where charges were filed. He was then set free while the investigation continues.

Valuables should be stored in lockers

According to the city press office, theft is not a big problem at the outdoor pools. But they remind people that money and things of value can and should be stored in the available lockers. Pool guests should make sure that the locker is functioning properly before using it. If the key is lost, the pool guest will need to provide proof for the things stored in the locker and pay a lost fee for the key.

At the end of every day, all of the lockers are opened and checked. Any remaining contents are put in the lost and found. Visitors are urged to bring as few valuables as possible.
