Bonn police said on Sunday that they took the 21-year-old man into custody on Saturday evening. He is strongly suspected of critically injuring a 25-year-old man through multiple stab wounds in the early hours of Saturday morning. Officer initially took three suspects into custody on Saturday, aged between 15 and 16. Inquiries by the Bonn murder squad alleviated any suspicion against the three minors and they left police headquarters on Saturday afternoon.

There was a fight between several people on the Bonn Marktplatz at around 2.10am on Saturday. A 25-year-old man was critically injured as a result of several stab wounds, including in the stomach area. He was taken to hospital after receiving treatment from first responders. Witnesses became aware of the incident and had immediately informed the rescue services and the police.

Suspicion against the 21-year-old, who is an acquaintance of the victim, increased on Saturday afternoon. While being questioned, the 21-year-old admitted stabbing the 25-year-old several times during the fight. According to police information, those involved gave different reasons for the dispute.

Investigations are continuing into the background and possible further involved parties.
