Brückenforum in Bonn-Beuel Important information about the casting for "Babylon Berlin"

BONN · Many extras will be needed in filming the third season of German TV series “Babylon Berlin”. Casting will take place on Saturday at the Brückenforum in Bonn-Beuel. Here is a look at which applicants have good chances and what needs to be considered.

It’s dazzling Berlin at the end of the 1920s. Commissioner Gereon Rath (Volker Bruch) investigates a new crime case on a film set - a famous actress has died unexpectedly. Someone is up to no good.

This spring the shooting of the third season of "Babylon Berlin" will take place in NRW. From mid-February to mid-March, the film team will be guests in Bonn, Düren, Cologne, Solingen and Krefeld - probably also at Schloss Drachenburg. Beside the stars, 500 extras and 40 actors and actresses with minor roles are needed for one to three days of filming.

This coming Saturday from 12 to 4 pm, those interested have the opportunity to present themselves in the Brückenforum (Friedrich-Breuer-Straße 17, 53225 Bonn-Beuel) in an open casting call, no advance registration necessary. Gregor Weber of casting agency Eick discusses which roles they need to fill and which applicants have good chances.

Which roles are they seeking to fill?

Both speaking and non-speaking roles need to be filled. "We are looking for people from NRW to play gangsters, policemen, passers-by, executioners, pub guests, prison guards, high-ranking officers and politicians," explains Weber. "In other situations, we need a very small man and several waiters, priests and carpenters”. Children between the ages of six months and eight years - twins are also welcome - could be used in orphanage scenes. "We also have to find 50 women to play prison inmates," Weber said.

What should the candidates look like?

The faces and bodies may be more normal or have certain characteristics (e.g. bald men, persons with one leg or one arm). All candidates should start to let their hair grow out immediately and show no signs of obvious hair coloring, no solarium tan and no visible piercings or tattoos. "Historical, natural, faces etched with life experience are great," says Weber.

Are there age requirements?

Invited are all people from 0 to 80 years who are interested in taking a trip back in time to the 1920’s. "Since speaking roles (in German) are also available, men and women between the ages of 18 and 80 with acting experience can also apply," says Weber.

What do applicants need to be ready for?

Photos will be taken on location and a questionnaire filled in. "For a special scene, we are also looking for many men and women between 18 and 60 who are willing to kiss passionately," says Weber.
