Indoor shopping in the region Huma shopping mall opens in Sankt Augustin

Sankt Augustin · After years of planning and building, the Huma shopping mall is open for business. Customers have many shops and services to choose from and parking is plentiful and free for the first two hours.

Work continued right up until the last minutes before the opening but now the “Huma-Shoppingwelt” (Huma Shopping World) mall is finished and opened for customers on Thursday morning. The giant and most modern shopping center in the region offers 49,000 square meters of retail and shopping. Of that space, 17,000 square meters are filled with fashion retailers.

The opening of the new mall is the culmination of a long project which began with discussions back in 2006. There were plans made which then changed and changed again; there was an innovative pilot project with resident participation and complaints from neighboring communities. But the reconstruction of the old mall finished on time and on budget. Experts estimate that the cost for construction on the mall was around 130 million euro.

City planner Rainer Gleß emphasized that the great willingness and cooperation showed by the investors, the Jost Hurler Group was by no means a given. Mayor Klaus Schumacher also had praise for the project and said in his greeting, “This has contributed significantly to positive change to come also in the surrounding environment.” Shopping center manager Klaus Kricks said their success factor was due to the good public transportation connections, the spacious indoor mall area, comfortable parking spaces, the wide variety of merchandise and their fashion competence.

In addition to the clothing stores and discounter TK Maxx, there are jewelry and home accessories shops, a flower shop, a “dm” and a “Müller” drug store, an “epi boulangerie patisserie” and a couple more cafes, as well as an “Intersport” sporting goods store and haircutting and nail salons. For a complete list of shops, please visit the website.

Located close by in Sankt Augustin (Rathausallee 16), the mall is open from Monday through Saturday from 10 am until 8 pm. There are 1,200 parking places and it is free for up to two hours. For the third hour and every additional hour, the cost is €1.50.
