Heavy rains have caused a delay in the Green Juice Music Festival in Beuel. Appearances of the first bands have been cancelled and the opening is postponed until Saturday. Organizers will meet with city officials at 9 am on Saturday morning to decide if the festival can open at 11:30 am as planned.

One of the organizers, Julian Reiniger said there were huge puddles of water and they had to be pumped out. Whether or not the festival really opens on Friday as scheduled is still being clarified with the city and the festival’s organizers. “The problem is that the grounds are so muddy that vehicles can’t drive on the them,” said Reiniger. It means the bands can’t get their equipment to the stage, and the snack bars can’t bring the refreshments and assortment to their stands.

Security is also an issue as any ambulances would not be assured of getting through the muddy terrain. For now, the parking lot is closed and alternative parking can be found at the IGS Beuel.

Those who don’t want to miss the music can go to Bla on Bornheimer Str. 20-22 from 4:30 pm with free admission. For Saturday, however the weather is looking good and the festival will go on. (Orig. text: Nicolas Ottersbach)
