Jury selects favorite cinema Germany's most popular cinema is the Woki in Bonn

Bonn · An expert jury has chosen the Bonn Woki cinema as Germany’s most popular movie theater. The Woki, which also shows English films, won out against 1,600 competitors.

The Woki at Bertha von Suttner Platz has been voted the most popular cinema in Germany. On Wednesday, an expert jury of the movie portal Moviepilot voted the Bonn movie theater to first place. The jury included Chong-Won Lim, Head of Marketing of Motorola Mobility Germany, Ines Walk, Editor-in-Chief of Moviepilot, Marketing Expert Gerold Marks, and Stefan Gehrke, Editor-in-Chief of "Filmecho / Filmwoche". The award was presented on Wednesday at the Munich Film Week 2018.

In October 2017, Moviepilot initiated a vote for the first time to choose Germany's favorite cinema. Hundreds of favorites from more than 1,600 movie theaters were nominated for "Germany's Favorite Cinema" - including the Woki and the Rhein-Ahr Cinema Center in Bad Neuenahr. "MoviePilot is an active German-speaking movie recommendation community. Three million users are registered there”, says Rainer Otto, managing partner of Woki. For him, the award was an "awesome story," and he was delighted on Wednesday.

The jury said their decision was heavily influenced by the commitment of the employees who work at the Woki. “Through personality, family local initiatives, through regional and political commitment and the contemporary use of social media, you succeed in getting visitors to identify with the cinema, which is second to none," explains the statement from the jury. The Woki lives by and for the fans. "They love the cinema and feel comfortable there as in a large family, in which the commonality of the cinema experience is in the foreground."

In a first statement put out on Facebook, the Woki expressed its delight in winning the award and thanked all of its supporters - in German and in English.
