Cherry blossoms in north Bonn Flea market permitted

BONN · It won’t be the big cherry blossom festival like last year but there will be a flea market this year in the old town at the end of April. A permit has been granted for 100 to 200 stalls.

After the commercial cherry blossom festival was cancelled in north Bonn, the city has granted a permit for a local flea market on Saturday, April 22. As reported previously, a private person had applied for the permit.

Local residents are allowed to put up 100 to 200 stands either in front of their home entrances or on the sidewalks. In principal, it includes the entire old town - Breitestraße, Wolfstraße, Dorotheenstraße, Heerstraße, Im Krausfeld, Georgstraße and Adolfstraße.

Loud music or selling of drinks is not allowed. While some politicians greeted the return of the flea market to the old town, critics fear that traffic will come to a standstill. They also worry that they will have to bear the costs of closing streets and putting up portable toilets for the many visitors who are expected.
