Siegburg train station Fire department called to ICE train

Siegburg · Smoke developed on board an ICE train en route to Munich, causing the conductor to make an unscheduled stop in Siegburg and alarm the fire department.

The fire department was called to Siegburg train station on Tuesday afternoon, July 18 in response to a technical defect aboard an ICE train. A spokesperson for the fire department said they were called out at 4:10pm. Apparently, there was a release of heat which resulted in smoke in the end car.

Because of the problem, the conductor of the train, which had been on its way from Dortmund to Munich, made the decision to stop in Siegburg. Passengers had to leave the ICE train and board other trains to their destinations.

The fire department examined the train but did not find any fire. German Rail employees sent the train on to a workshop for repairs.
