Plittersdorf fire Fire breaks out at Caesar research center

Bonn · A fire broke out late Sunday evening at the research center Caesar on Ludwig-Erhard-Allee in Plittersdorf. The fire department was on the scene with 30 firefighters.

Bonn firefighters rushed to the Center of Advanced European Studies and Research (Caesar) on Ludwig-Erhard-Allee in Plittersdorf on late Sunday evening. The center is a neuroscience research institute affiliated with the Max Planck Society.

The fire department reported that an automatic fire alarm system had triggered an alarm at 11:21 pm. Apparently, a fire had broken out in a seminar room, resulting in heavy smoke.

On the scene were 30 firefighters from Bonn, Bad Godesberg and Beuel. The fire was extinguished shortly before midnight. Parts of a blanket were opened and used to put out the embers. Because of how the building is constructed, extracting smoke from the center was time-consuming.

The seminar room and two adjoining rooms cannot be used for the time being. At 1:40 am on Monday, the fire department finished its work and pulled out.
