Bonn · Excursions in Bonn and the surrounding areas are not always child-friendly. Here are some tips for things to do and places to go where parents and children can enjoy themselves together.

Piratenland

To be a pirate - many small children have this dream and it can come true in Piratenland Bonn. On 2000 m² of space is a giant pirate ship, a jungle obstacle course, an electric cart track and much more. There is a small children's area for the little ones. The adults can enjoy themselves at beach volleyball, badminton or indoor soccer in the adjoining Sport mile Bonn Buschdorf.

Tip: Children's birthdays in the Soccer Hall of the Sport mile allow free admission to Piratenland.

Planetenweg

Children are curious explorers, but for adults, there is also always something to learn. In 2002, the planetary path was inaugurated in Bonn and shows our solar system on the scale of 1: 1 billion. At the individual stations there are bronze plates on which the individual planets are depicted and described. The path is 5.946 km long, and even if you go only part of the route, the search for the plates becomes a journey of discovery.

Tip: Between Uranus and Saturn is the Rhine pavilion, a pub with a beer garden and a panoramic view of the Rhine.

Die Grüne Spielstadt (outdoor nature adventure area)

The nature experience adventure area "Grüne Spielstadt" is located on 4,500 m² of land. There are meter-high sculptures in the pasture, a crawling tunnel and an over-sized echo egg, inviting children to experience nature with all their senses. The project "Raus aus'm Haus" (Get out of the house) wants to create a place for "outdoor learning" for schools and day-care centers and is constantly developing. Every first Sunday in the summer months, the terrain is open to all, but it can also be rented.

Tip: Various artists perform on open Sundays. For the children there are arts & crafts, and an environment rally.

Bronx Rock - Climbing forest

First climbing - then swimming. In the climbing park Bonn you can choose between four different courses. After the practice course, you can choose between two different adventure courses and the sport course. There is a children's course for young visitors from the age of five. From 7 years and older, you can go on the adventure courses, and the sports course is open to those ten and older. After climbing, you have free admission to the Hardtberg leisure and adventure pool. Parents can relax under palm trees while the children can enjoy themselves on the slide.

Tip: In bad weather, you can opt for the indoor climbing hall in Wesseling.

Waldau game reserve

The game reserve in the Waldau with all its inhabitants is an attraction for young and old. In addition to deer, wild boars and many birds can be seen. Next to the forest playground is the Waldau nature museum and an educational nature trail.

Fairy tale forest Bad Breisig

In the fairy-tale forest in Bad Breisig, scenes from the most beautiful fairy tales of the brothers Grimm have been painted. The moving figures each tell a story from the fairy tale at the touch of a button.

Tip: For the season start on the 1st and 2nd April, there are special offers on the Rhine terrace.

Sommerrodelbahn (Summer toboggan run)

First you are towed uphill, then you go through seven curves on your way 550 meters down into the valley. For more than 30 years the Altenahrer Sommerrodelbahn has been offering fun for the family. The little ones take a seat between the legs of mom or dad, and from the age of eight years, they can ride alone. Refreshments are provided on the garden terrace.

Tip: Pony rides are offered for children over 4 years of age.

Prices: Each ride: Children from 8 - 17 years old: 2,20 €, adults: 3 €, children under 8 years ride free with their parents.

Krewelshof adventure farm

The adventure farm at Krewelshof in Lohmar is a real attraction with its live cooking, an open bakery and the show-dairy. In the kitchen, jam, cakes, syrup and much more are made from their own agricultural products. The many animal inhabitants of the farm look forward to the attention of the young visitors. There is also a playpen and a playground.

Tip: The next children 's flea market will take place on the 5th of July from 9 am to 3 pm, with everything from clothes to stuffed animals..
