After “Friedrike” Evening commute traffic situation

BONN/REGION · The fire department had to clear storm damage late this morning. Train traffic was suspended for all of Thursday. Some streets remain closed.

With a wind force of 11, the strong gusts of “Friederike” swept over NRW this morning. Zoos, markets and many schools closed, parents had to pick up their children.

In Bonn and the region, many trees were uprooted and trucks were overturned. Rail traffic in NRW has been suspended. At the end of the day, here is an overview of public transportation and roads.

Road traffic

A fallen truck on the A555 in the direction of Bonn caused it to be fully closed during the day. Disruptions are also to be expected on the main traffic arteries in the eastern Rhine-Sieg district. For example, the L333 near Eitorf is closed.

The L268 in Oberdollendorf and the Pützchens Chaussee in Beuel are also not passable, as a tree is on the road.

Robert-Koch-Straße in Bonn and the Ölmühlenweg in Rheinbach are open again. But clean-up operations and traffic disruptions continue to be expected in Bonn and the region.

Rail traffic

In Germany, the complete train service was stopped and will not be resumed today.

Trams and buses

Trams 16 and 18 are once again running from Bonn to Cologne. For a time, the rail traffic was discontinued and limited to the Bonn urban area. Currently, Line 16 ends at Ubiering and Line 18 in Klettenberg. The bus lines may be delayed due to weather-related traffic delays. In addition, in Cologne, the tram operations on lines 1, 3, 4 and 18 were disturbed due to overhead line damage on the right side of the Rhine.

Cologne/Bonn Airport

There are now no restrictions on take-offs and landings at Cologne/ Bonn Airport. Irregularities continue to occur in the flight plan, especially with regard to landings. In the late morning, the air traffic was stopped for some time.
