Several safeguards served as the grounds for the proposal - the importance of the site’s location, the chance to increase social integration and the eligibility of the investment. The paper will be discussed next Wednesday, then in several expert committees and in the main city council. Financially, the proposal still involves a few uncertainties.

While pointing towards public financial support the paper does not define any estimated costs. It also does not explain what consequences the new pool concept will have if the Frankenbad remains in the city council’s property list. The city would like to involve a planning office which is familiar with renovating building structures from the 1950s and which would be able to judge how realistic (and how expensive) a transformation into the proposed leisure complex would be.

The ideas are plenty: The former swimming hall could be used for sports like „parcours“ or „calisthenics“. A climbing wall could also be possible. These are developments which the private operators of similar offers like for the former Biskuithalle will follow with great interest. Also, moving cultural establishments into the side wings of the Frankenbad could help the social integration of the quarter as well as meeting the needs of historic preservation.
