SWAT team called out to Bonn Armed man holds young woman hostage in a caravan

Bonn · The police were called to a caravan on Broichstraße during the night. A 47-year-old armed man barricaded himself into the trailer with a young woman. The police brought in a SWAT team.

According to police spokesperson Robert Scholten, the police were contacted by relatives of the 19-year-old woman around 2am. They claimed that the woman was held against her will in a caravan, parked at a workshop area on Broichstraße.

Scholten said, the 19-year-old was contacted by her relatives first who then made their way to the caravan. The man turned them away, however. Because there were indications that he might be armed, the family contacted the police. The officers brought in a SWAT team due to the circumstances. The investigators communicated via megaphone with the man, who eventually opened the door at 6am and did not further resist arrest.

The man was slightly injured, the woman remained unhurt. Subsequently, the police searched the caravan and found a rifle. It is not yet clear how the involved parties are connected to each other. The police put up road barriers at the Broicher Straße and the Maarstraße, which were removed later.

The securing of evidence continues. According to GA information the 47-year-old was known to the police due to property crimes.
