A school remembers Anti-violence day in memory of Niklas P.

Bonn · An anti-violence day was held in memory of Niklas P. His mother attended events held in his honor at the school he once attended.

Months after the violent death of Niklas P., the memories still live with students at the school he attended, the Abendrealschule on Dorotheenstraße. The tragic and terrible event still has an effect on students’ behavior; many of them still remain stunned. Some activities were planned at school on Tuesday in memory of Niklas.

Remembering the 17-year-old youth, Niklas’ mother, the Mayor of Bonn Ashok Sridharan, teachers, classmates and friends all gathered together. Afterwards, a maple tree was planted in his honor in the schoolyard. An anti-violence day was also on the agenda, with around 300 students attending. In various projects, the students learned among other things, how violence can be prevented and how to behave when witnessing an attack.

Denise P., Niklas’ mother said, “It is very important that something like this is done after all that has happened.” She visited some projects together with the mayor. She appeared visibly moved that she was in the school that her son had attended quite happily until recent events. “It seems strange that I am now here”, she said. But she added, “The school is very committed to teaching young people how to behave.” As well, everything is being done to keep up the memory of Niklas.
