Protest against Belgian nuclear plants 90 kilometers of human chain

Bonn · The political parties are calling on the Bonn community to participate in a human chain from Tihange to Aachen on Sunday, June 25, in a protest against the nuclear plants in Belgium.

The six main political parties in the Bonn city council and the Piraten Party are calling on the Bonn community to participate in a 90 kilometer human chain from Tihange to Aachen. The campaign organised by anti nuclear initiatives from Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands is supposed to highlight the nuclear threat posed by the maximum security reactors Tihange 2 and Does 3.

AntiAtom Bonn, Greenpeace and the Bonn Green Party are providing a free bus shuttle service to bring participants to Flémalle, near the Maas river between Tihange and Liège. The CDU chairman as well as regional heads of the SPD, FDP, the Green Party, the Left Party, the Bürger Bund Bonn and the Piraten Party all signed a statement (to take part in)supporting the human chain against the continuing operation of the nuclear plants, which are 130 kilometers from Bonn. As reported, several cracks were detected in the nuclear reactor containments.
