Police investigation 58-year-old dies in accident at Phantasialand
BRÜHL · A 58-year-old man suffered a fatal accident at the amusement park Phantasialand on Tuesday morning. General Anzeiger received the information through an inquiry to police. The man was apparently an employee.
Criminal police have taken over the investigation for the deadly accident at Phantasialand. The Office for Occupational Safety is also involved. What exactly happened was not yet known, according to police.
The German “Bild” newspaper reported that the 58-year-old was an employee at the amusement park. He was doing maintenance work on the rollercoaster “Winja’s fear & force” when the accident happened.
A spokesperson for the district government released information to the “Kölnische Rundschau” newspaper that the worker was on an inspection run with a device that lifts wagons in the air. During that run, he was crushed to death.
Criminal police will continue with the investigation. The amusement park in Brühl is still closed for the winter, not yet open to visitors.
