Bonn. With the slogan "The healthy snack - fast, cheap, fresh" the new restaurant Salat & Freunde on the Poppelsdorf restaurant mile welcomes those who want to come in for a quick bite to eat.
Ronald Schäfer and Sabine Leis are owners of the existing establishment “Meyer’s”, and they have now opened a neighboring eatery called “Salat und Freunde” (“Salad and Friends”). With seating for 20 persons, the eatery features brick walls, rustic wooden furniture and vintage industrial lamps. Next spring there will be a small terrace in front of the restaurant.
The salad that shares the name of the restaurant naturally prevails on the menu, and orders are placed at the counter. Guests can either put their salad together individually or order one of the bowls, such as the "Scandinavian Bowl" (cucumber, rocket, sheep's cheese, pickled salmon, sprouts, ginger and honey mustard dressing) for 8.90 euros, the "Buddha Bowl" (quinoa, half sweet potato, chickpeas, half avocado, spinach and peanut-chili dressing) for 7.40 Euro or the "Rheinische Bowl" (two meatballs, red onions, corn, carrots, cucumbers and Meyer's dressing) for 7.40 Euro.
There are also various Flammkuchen versions (either classic with wheat base, alternatively with organic wholemeal spelt base or with beetroot colored wheat base) from the Bornheimer Flammkuchen-Manufaktur starting at 7.90 euros; or one can order four small, sweet Flammkuchen such as the one with banana, Nutella and sponge cake (3.80 euros). Two different soups costing between four and 5.50 euros are added daily, for example pumpkin, lentils or carrot ginger.
The tea varieties (e.g. wild orange fruit tea blend or herbal tea) come from the tea house in Poppelsdorf (cup 3.20 euros, pot 5.60 euros), the cold drinks include apple or blackcurrant spritzers from Morle (0.33l each 3.40 euros), ginger sodas from Djahé (0.33l each 3.90 euros) and organic matchas from Ma-Tea (0.33l each 3.90 euros).
